I have a few clients that have me thinking, and I'd love your opinion on where you would start because this is a little outside my wheelhouse- mainly because of their age. I know some of it with working with the TBI Protocol- different but kind of similar pathways.
Client #1: She's 74 with peripheral neuropathy, ulcerative colitis (mostly controlled but still flares), and cognitive decline/memory issues that have been progressing over time. She was recently evaluated by her primary care physician (not neurology), and whatever the new diagnosis/classification was, they ended up taking away her driver's license. I can't remember exactly what she couldn't remember during the evaluation, but it was a fairly basic test and she was frustrated and wants a new doctor:) Her memory has definitely become more of a concern- I noticed it when they returned from being down south for 4 months but it still isnt as bad as my client #2.
Because of everything I've learned from you, the case studies, and working through the mentorship, I've finally started putting together that these aren't separate problems. They're all interconnected—as everything usually is—and I'm sure years of underlying root causes, along with genetics, are probably all contributing to where she is today.
Client #2: He's 80 with peripheral neuropathy and cognitive decline/memory issues that have also worsened over time, but he doesn't have ulcerative colitis.
Their ages are what make me pause. I don't know if that changes your approach, but I'm not sure where you'd start. Would you begin with labs (Neural Zoomer, other Vibrant Wellness panels, or something completely different), or are there other priorities first? I have access to Vibrant Wellness testing and most functional labs. Obviously I would need to see what medications she is on and supplements etc...
Even if you weren't considering peptides initially, what would your starting point be? Foundations? Specific supplements? Bioregulators? Mitochondrial support? Prodrome? Other neuro-support protocols?
My first client's husband is a physician, and she was a nurse and her daughter and husband are nurses but open minded. Because of her memory, her husband would really need/like to be involved, but I think he's open to looking beyond the standard Western medicine approach if there's evidence behind it and she would as well.
I also have a new client whose mother and father both have Parkinson's disease along with cognitive decline. I believe they were both physicians as well. I'll learn more about their history as we work together, but she became interested because she overheard me talking with my other client about brain health, neuropathy, and some of these approaches. She really just wants to learn more herself so she can do her own research and, if appropriate, introduce her parents to other possibilities beyond the conventional route. I wasn't sure if you have a framework you tend to follow in cases like this, or if there are particular resources, labs, supplements, peptides, or other interventions that are worth exploring.
I know you mentioned GLP-1s having some promising research around Alzheimer's and dementia, which got me thinking about all of this.
I actually put together a brain health/neuropathy resource a few months ago for these clients with Claude's help (it has a few mistakes but I didn't have time to correct them so just roll with it and some of the recommendations for things like lifepro have changed or I have other options to choose from that havent gotten added but you get the gist and I think they forgot I sent it:) See waht you think and of course every person is different I was just trying to get them some ideas but should probably be sending it to their spouses...
She uses the vibration plate at the studio and when I remember to bring my red light I have her do that along with my other client as well. Any vagus nerve things they should be working on and any other ideas I think they would be open to...
If you have a chance, I'd love your feedback on it. Please add, subtract, or completely change anything you'd recommend. I'd also appreciate any papers, articles, podcasts, lectures, or resources you think would be worthwhile for me—or for them—to read.
Sorry I missed the last Q&A- I totally spaced it and forgot to put it in my calendar. Of course the next one falls on my birthday. 😂 I'm still going to try to make it, but if it's easier to save this for Q&A, that's totally fine too.
Thanks! I always appreciate your guidance.
