Foraging for detox
I came across a video for a detox tonic drink made from wild sticky buds which are found in abundance in UK woodlands. These are the sticky weeds that stick to clothes. These will start growing round about now. Off i go to the woods with my basket. 😄 Do these grow where you are? Details below STICKY WILLY & WILLY WATER (Galium aparine) This plant, known by many names including Cleavers, Goosegrass, Sticky Weed, Bobbies Buttons and Mother’s Milk, is often found stuck to people’s backs, especially on the way to school. During spring, it’s commonly used as a tonic to cleanse the lymphatic system, often likened to a bottle brush due to its structure. It helps move lymph fluid, clear stagnation and support the immune system. It’s particularly effective for swollen glands, tonsillitis, urinary problems and fluid retention. To use it, wash the plant and place it in water overnight. The next day, you’ll have “Willy water”, a cold infusion and unfortunate name that can be drunk throughout the day and is often consumed for several weeks in spring. While generally safe, it’s advised to avoid it if you’re pregnant or taking blood-thinning medication. A cold infusion is preferred, but juicing and making teas are also popular methods. The young shoots have a pea-like flavour and are often used fresh, but they become tough quickly. Juicing and infusions are best for this stage. This plant has numerous medicinal uses. It can be applied externally to treat sunburns, burns, blisters and nettle stings. Also a relative of coffee where the seeds (Bobbies Buttons) can be roasted to make a wild coffee. Mother’s milk comes from its use to use the fine hooks to remove impurities from milk (Greek word for milk is “gala”). Geese are fond of it hence the name “Goosegrass”. “Cleave” means stick or cling. Do you have more names for this plant? Share any meanings behind the names if possible. 📹 @cbcontentstrategy #willywater #cleanse #spring #tonic #forage

This one is LIGHT, crisp, slightly sweet, slightly tangy, and so refreshing for the gut. Perfect during detox, liver support, or when you want something creamy without heaviness. 🥗 Base • 1 large fennel bulb, very thinly sliced • 1 crisp apple (Pink Lady or Granny), thin slices • 1 cup thin sliced napa cabbage or celery • 2 tbsp fresh dill • 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onion Squeeze fresh lemon over apples immediately so they don’t brown. 🥣 Creamy Raw Dressing (Lighter Version) • ½ cup thick coconut yogurt or blended young coconut meat • 1 tbsp lemon juice • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar • 1 small piece grated ginger • ½ tsp sea salt • Optional: 1 soaked date if you want slightly sweeter Blend until smooth. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE FOOT SOAK 👣
I’ve seen this going around and I want to clarify it properly. Yes, I actually do suggest hydrogen peroxide foot soaks. They are supportive. Your feet have thousands of nerve endings and pores, and when you soak them in warm water with diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide, it helps: • Reduce surface toxins • Support fungal or bacterial issues • Increase circulation • Oxygenate the skin • Reduce swelling It can assist the body in releasing surface-level waste and support local detoxification. However, this is not deep heavy metal detox. It is not pulling metals out of your organs or replacing liver detox pathways. Deep detox happens through: • Liver • Kidneys • Lymph • Colon This is supportive care. Highly suggested? Yes. To be overdone? No. What You Need: • Warm water (enough to cover your feet) • ½ cup 3% hydrogen peroxide • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons sea salt How To Do It: 1. Fill a basin or tub with warm water. 2. Add ½ cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide. 3. Add sea salt if desired. 4. Soak your feet for 10–15 minutes. 5. Rinse and pat dry. 6. Moisturize after if needed. Frequency: 1–2 times a week is more than enough. Overuse can dry or irritate the skin because hydrogen peroxide is oxidative. How It Supports: • Helps cleanse the surface of the skin • Supports reduction of bacteria and fungus • Encourages circulation • Can reduce mild swelling • Softens dead skin This is a supportive tool for foot care and gentle cleansing. Use consistently but avoid overuse. Use it as a supportive tool, not as a miracle hack. Intentional. Balanced. Smart.
