Dandelion and Burdock drink (Tum Tum friendly)
I used to love dandelion and burdock drink as a kid, tho the shop bought stuff is full of sugar, so I'd thought id make my own, without the bad stuff. I've not made it yet as I need burdock root and need to pick and prep dandelion root, and when stomach is feeling calmer Ive cut away all sugar. Dandelion Traditionally supports: digestion and bile flow liver support gentle fluid balance mild bitterness that can stimulate digestion Burdock Often used for.. digestive support skin and lymph support gentle prebiotic fibre (from the root) Usually milder than dandelion, but again, strong decoctions can feel βheavyβ if digestion is sensitive. Gentle Homemade Dandelion & Burdock πΌπ΅(Gastritis-Friendly) Made for a calmer stomach,soothing rather than harsh. Youβll need: 1 teaspoon dried burdock root Β½ teaspoon roasted dandelion root (keep this lighter at first) 1 thin slice fresh ginger (optional only if ginger suits you) 1 small piece cinnamon stick (optional) 500β600ml filtered water Β½ teaspoon Manuka Honey or raw honey (optional, added after cooling slightly) Method: Add the burdock root, dandelion root, and optional ginger/cinnamon to a small pan. Pour in the water. Bring gently to a simmer, not a rolling boil. Let it simmer softly for about 10β15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit for another 5 minutes. Strain well. Let it cool to warm or room temperature before drinking. Add honey only once itβs no longer very hot. How to take it: Start with half a cup first, not a full mug Best after food, not on an empty stomach Once a day to begin with Watch how your stomach responds If your stomach is very sensitive: Use: burdock root only for the first few days then slowly introduce a little dandelion. slow, simple, and listening to the body.
