Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, Many of us in our lives have picked up hobbies, and some have picked up vices. there some that have overcome addictions and some still struggle with it. But there are some have a vice or addiction and do not even realize this. The latest addiction or vice however we don't want to label, is scrolling or trolling on the internet. this has become the number one addiction over the past couple of years, the television use to be number one when cable television and satellite first came out. Many of you know my plight of the de digitization of my life to a minimum, I know I cannot totally and completely do this due to work, but I can minimize the amount especially in my private life. The latest statistic shows that the average person checks their cellphone 143 time in an hour, now I get it some of you are saying " I don't check mine that much." and that is fine. But that stats show that when at work the average person checks their phone 115 times in an hour, and when you are working, when you stop to check your phone, it takes you 23.5 minutes to refocus on your work, so in in one hour you actually are productive 15 minutes of that hour. No wonder why employers do not want people using their phone while at work. the average person spends 3 months out of the year scrolling on their phone, there are 365 days in a year, and the average person will spend 153 days on their phone. Look around as you go throughout your day today and notice how many people are on their phones and for how long. You might say " that's not me" Great! (the first sign of addiction is denial)! just kidding, but this is something to consider and evaluate. This creates what is known as doping, which the body creates dopamine in your body that actively slows and hinders your cognitive thinking and rationalizing So why am I saying this? Because we spend way too much time on are phones and the results can have serious effects, The more you rely on your phone to do simple task in your life, the more you lose the ability to do certain functions. things like make rational decisions, spelling words correctly on your own, the ability to hold decent conversations, the ability to know and feel emotions when talking to others and the list goes on and on. Now, some might say "well what about being on this platform?" this is different, why? Because first of all no one is spending hours on these communities. Secondly, the posts are short, and the content in these communities are not made up of mindless antics to draw out dopamine in your body.
