The Society of Ordinary Gentlemen, the O.G.’s of Gentlemanly Behavior, was created to provide a haven where gentlemen and ladies can communicate with each other in a polite and courteous setting. While many discussions will center around genteel behavior, humor, fashion, food, mental and physical well-being, and the active mentoring of a new generation of gentlemen, no topic of discussion is off limits provided the discussion is conducted within the Code of Conduct of the Society. The Society of Ordinary Gents is not a platform for recruiting members into sub-groups, special membership groups, or educational or financial opportunities. Poachers, Charlatans, or Internet Self-Help Gurus will be banned. The Society is not going to teach you how to be James Bond, John Wick, or the secret methods to make women want you. The Society is not a for-profit group or business. Essentially, The Society of Ordinary Gents is the online equivalent of friends enjoying a cigar, a bourbon and the company of others, as we discuss meaningful and trivial matters sitting in comfortable chairs. I just wanted to remind everyone about the intentional wording of the Society and how it reflects how we should live and values we should uphold at all times. I could not state this better than Scott did in one of his posts so please allow me to use his words. As most of you may have noticed, "ordinary" and "gentlemen" are in the name of the Society. The two labels are intentional. Ordinary: of a kind to be expected in the normal order of events. What is commonplace or standard. For members of the Society, being a gentleman or gentlelady is the expected norm, it is the common mode of behavior, not the uncommon. It is the ordinary man or woman that does extraordinary deeds in times of trouble. Gentleman: a chivalrous, courteous, or honorable man. And in the Society a gentleman or gentlelady also exhibits the traits of honor, civility, discipline, and empathy. As a member of The Society of Ordinary Gentlemen we are "labeling" ourselves with certain traits and the desire to nourish those traits within our community. I wanted to let you know that this post is not aimed at anyone specific, I felt that a reminder was needed.

I wanted to clarify the level requirements for the first three levels. When it says 15 days and 30 days, that is from the date of joining and not from the date that you made that level. Level 1 - 3 days from joining Level 2 - 15 days from joining Level 3 - 30 days from joining These expectations are made to maintain an active society and to weed out "lurkers". If you are active, these expectations should be very easy to obtain. If these expectations are not made, you will risk being culled from the society and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

I’m pleased to announce that Sunday 15th of November a new Society meeting is going to take place. This one has been moved of date and hour to Sunday to try to bring in more members. We expect great conversations and a bunch of laughs from the Sunday meeting. Grab your drink, take sit next to the fireplace and get ready to have a great time.
