Long term credibility vs Earlier business focus
My goal is to help Christians live healthier, more natural life physically and mentally, and stay away from chemicals all whilst combining it with my programming skills (content + building software, apps, sites etc)
I will be 19 this year, I'm in a 4th (out of 5) grade in tech/trade school in Poland in a Technician Programmer "major". There are 2 paths I can take, in both cases I'd make content on weekends, starting asap.
1. Public formal education is free in my country and I have found "individualized interdisciplinary studies" where under a mentor/tutor I can choose courses (for Bachelors CS as core with neuro/cognitive science and parts of physics, biology, biophysics, medical physics and potentially biochem that are related to my goal).
Masters the same way (individualized with a mentor I choose), but more specialized in AI for med/human health stuff. Potentially doing PhD in nutrition and dietetics. Self-teaching would be necessary as well.
Important to note, that the studies provide degree in core major/majors not "interdisciplinary" one - so that's better.
I used to hate uni, thought it's a scam, but as I dove deeper into finding what I really want to do, and what I want from life this goal of mine is what I've found after tens of hours of journaling and self-reflections.
Can I learn that stuff on my own? Yes, but it'll be harder to leave lasting impact in that niche without credibility. Mentors, tutors and professors would help me with writing research papers, making the right choices in the niche, potentially even helping with my business and e.g. being "expert guests".
2. Self-learning: there's of course lots of books, articles, studies etc available online that cover pretty much the same stuff that uni does, but giving health advice without proper credibility seems very risky.
I'd have more time and location freedom, more time to focus on business. But is it worth it? I'm not sure.
All this education to combine passions and credibility... I wonder if it even matters or going self-taught route would be more beneficial (more time for business)
Truth is, becoming "rich", or an expert in something takes years, so both paths require hard work and discipline.
