✨️ Mel's Sunday Shift week of jan 25
Hey happy Sunday Shift. I just want to reflect on my little system shifts this week. My goal was to create weekday food rotations, and I actually did it. I implemented it and completed week one, and honestly it was awesome. Not perfect, but awesome.
That constant “what are we having for dinner tonight?” feeling just disappeared. And that alone felt huge. I went to the freezer once, pulled out what we needed, and moved on. So many friction points just vanished, and I’m already loving it.
Still learning though.
One day I planned a freezer meal that I hadn’t actually made yet, so that one was on me. Another day I had leftovers listed as the meal, "tousqui" as we call it (fancy french short term for tous ce qu'il reste... direct translation everything left). Issue with tousqui ... is there weren't any ... we used them all up for lunches.
So I’m going back through my four week rotation and editing. Tousqui isn't something I plan ... its a back up to the plan or a swap into the plan when it exists. Lol.
What I’m really seeing now is the need for a built-in backup plan. Like if that freezer meal doesn’t exist, what’s the default? Quick staples, leftovers, something that’s always an option. That flexibility piece feels next level 🌀
So yeah, I’m going to keep refining this until it feels even smoother and even lower friction. It already feels totally worth it. That’s what I’m learning right now.
Wins
Finished week one of the rotation, eliminated the daily dinner decision spiral, reduced mental load, proved to myself that imperfect systems still work.
Lessons
Plans only work if the food actually exists, leftovers need clearer rules, structure works best when flexibility is built in 🧩
Good Better Best for This Week
Good
Edit four week meal rotation
Better
Edit four week rotation plus add one freezer meal recipe times three
Best
All of the above plus fully flesh out a flexibility and backup framework 🔄
