Substack paid subscription post - critique please :)
Imperfect action continues.
Would someone so kindly take a look at a post I am looking to do on my Substack?
Please be gentle, I am no copywriter, as you will soon see. :)
I leveraged the the 5 P's when writing it.
I added some background on myself near the end of the post. Not sure if I need that, or not. Most people coming to the page will have no clue who I am so wanted to add some street cred if they needed it to subscribe.
My ideal subscriber is running or looking to run an ecommerce store and needs help with conversion optimization.
The copy is below:
The Golden Ticket eCommerce Formula
"Your golden ticket to more sales and revenue."
There are three things everyone needs to run a successful ecommerce business.
Get those three things right and business gets real fun.
1. You need a product
2. You need traffic
3. You need conversion.
Fast.
This message is for all of you folks out there selling your stuff online.
As you know, running your own ecomm business is hard.
Real hard…
You have so many hats to wear each day as a business owner.
Running an ecomm biz, at times, can be such a burden.
It can at times just really SUCK the life right out of you.
Ask me how I know. :)
All the things you must do in a day can be overwhelming.
Maybe your day looks a bit like this?
Get up after a somewhat good night’s sleep (does the human brain EVER truly shut off when you own an ecommerce, or any business for that matter?)
Grab a cup of coffee, juice or whatever…
Fire up the computer.
Check emails.
Check sales.
Check traffic sources.
Look at ad campaigns.
Make tweaks to ad campaigns.
Check on SEO.
Look at Analytics.
Look at your repricer.
Write content.
Post to social media.
Web development.
Check your seller accounts. Amazon. eBay, Walmart and other marketplaces.
Hire people.
Fire people.
Customer support.
Shipping.
Sourcing.
Banking.
New product development.
Ongoing education.
Sound familiar?
Dang straight homey…
Talk about a burden...
It can all be too much.
For anyone. :)
What is ALL of this work and burden costing you?
Costing your family?
Do you ever finding yourself missing out on family fun.
Maybe missing one of the kids’ events.
No time for yourself. Missing out on buddy time.
Not ever getting a full vacation in.
You are missing out on many things in your life.
The burden of your work load is costing you precious time and energy.
Time and energy that can be put back into the fun and enjoyable things that your friends, associates and family members always seem to get to do.
There has to be a better way.
You need a new plan.
A plan that will help you make more sales, with small little changes.
You likely don’t need more traffic.
Your product(s) are great, but you may consider a new conversion plan?
This may just be all that you need to make more sales, get the revenue you desire, so you can have more free time to do the things you love.
Sound good?
OK.
Lets goooo…
Here is where things change for you…
I would like to introduce you to the Golden Ticket eCommerce formula.
A new formula to help you convert more prospects and lookie-loos into buyers and customers.
This formula focuses solely on conversion rate optimization. ie-making your site(s) perform better and make more sales to prospects and customers.
Having been on your side of the business world for years, I know small hinges swing big doors.
Can’t remember exactly who coined that phrase, but I like it and it is so true.
Making one small change to your ecomm store can do amazing things for your business.
This reminds me of a story from my childhood.
Remember the story about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
It was one of my all-time favorite movies when I was a kid.
HECK, I still love watching that movie every once in a while.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a beloved children's book written by Roald Dahl, which features the character Willy Wonka and the story of the Golden Tickets.
Here's a brief summary in case you haven’t read it, seen the movie, or just plain old forgot:):
The story centers around Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who lives with his parents and four grandparents in a small house.
Willy Wonka, the reclusive and eccentric owner of the largest chocolate factory in the world, announces that he has hidden five Golden Tickets in his chocolate bars.
The finders of these tickets will be given a tour of his factory and a lifetime supply of chocolate.
Against all odds, Charlie finds the last Golden Ticket after receiving a chocolate bar as a birthday gift.
The other four tickets are found by Augustus Gloop, a gluttonous boy; Veruca Salt, a spoiled girl; Violet Beauregarde, a gum-chewing girl; and Mike Teavee, a boy obsessed with television.
The tour of the factory reveals a magical and bizarre world, filled with Oompa-Loompas, Wonka's small and energetic workers, and fantastical inventions.
One by one, the other children succumb to their vices and are removed from the tour in humorous and cautionary ways.
Augustus falls into the chocolate river and is sucked into a pipe, Violet turns into a giant blueberry after chewing an experimental gum, Veruca is deemed a "bad nut" by squirrels and discarded, and Mike is shrunk after trying out a teleportation device intended for chocolate.
Charlie, by being kind, obedient, and honest, wins Wonka's ultimate prize.
Wonka reveals that the tour was also a test to find a worthy successor for his chocolate empire.
Charlie's family is invited to live in the factory, ensuring their happiness and security for the rest of their lives.
Pretty good story. One of my all-time faves!
Now I am no Willy Wonka, but I am giving tours of my ecommerce conversion factory and you may just be the lucky winner that gets a lifetime supply of chocolate new conversions and ecommerce sales.
At this point you may want a bit more background on some of my accomplishments to help you decide whether you want to listen to me, or not.
This is the blah, blah, blah part.
Not bragging here.
But, I want to help you understand the experience I bring to the table to help you grow your sales.
I have done it for many, many businesses over the years.
I am a family man.
Been married for 35 years, a couple kiddos and three grands.
I am a man of faith.
I am a serial entrepreneur.
You can probably relate to that one.
I have started grown and successfully sold multiple businesses.
Everything from a computer company to a distribution business.
I really debated starting this newsletter and community, because I am a behind the scenes kind of guy.
Nothing makes me happier than sitting behind my computer all day, reading and typing away.
However, I decided it was time to share what I know with people that may find my experiences useful.
So here goes…
Maybe a bit of street cred first.
Lets start with some testimonials.
Tom Mosey, the CEO of his international MiniMelts Ice Cream business had this to say about them making the coveted Inc. 500 list.
In his words, “Thanks Todd, couldn’t have done it without you.”
For the past 20 years, or so it has ALL been about digital marketing and ecommerce sales.
Even became a Google Advisor along the way…
Consulting and marketing products and services for some of the best known brands on the planet.
Some pay $100k+ per year to get my services.
One of the gurus in the SEO world, Greg Morrison calls me an “OG” in the SEO/digital marketing world. I think that was a compliment. Ha!
I’ve gotten $20k commission checks from promoting affiliate offers.
I make sales with new school and old school methods.
Doesn’t matter if its direct mail, email or digital marketing.
I’ve done it all and have lots to share.
Ron Lynch, the 4-billion dollar man says, “I like having a smart grounded Christian near me".”
I have been down in the trenches helping the doctors in my home state run traffic and conversion for their health insurance company commerce.
That is a whole new level of trust. trusted by doctors and their expert marketing team.
That was cool.
…and I have sold thousands-upon thousands of ecommerce products over the years.
Was an eBay top-seller, was a trusted seller on Amazon and also consulted with a few of Amazon’s largest sellers over the years.
I have been around the block.
Numerous times.
Had some wins.
Had some fails.
Don't we all?
You may find the in-the-trenches EXPERIENCE I have in all things ecomm, business and digital marketing useful for you and your business?
I hope so.
Enough about me.
Back to you.
Back to us.
How can I help you drive more sales for your ecommerce, or brick and mortar store?
With your own Golden Ticket to More sales and revenue.
I call it The Golden Ticket eCommerce formula for more conversions.
You can get my best conversion tactics and strategies, simply by subscribing to my newsletter.
It’s a measly $80 bucks a year.
You can’t really even go out for a nice dinner these days for much less than that.
So, please consider trading in that one-time dinner expense and invest that money into something that can help you get a new lifetime supply of conversions and $$.
Eighty bucks for some food vs $80 bucks for your own Golden Ticket.
IMHO, kind of a no-brainer. :)
Together, let’s put an end to your conversion (lack of sales) problem and get you into the conversion (more sales) factory.
