Intro and my "crazy arse" project that i want help with :).

I’ve been lurking here for weeks now but I really want to make progress on my project so I need to start engaging!

I feel like I’m going out on a limb bit here because I’m interested in this process of licensing content from a completely different role compare to most peeps here.

In full transparency I am a creator. I can’t actually help myself :). I’m also a teacher with 30 years professional experience and a master at designing programs and synthesising content into learning frameworks at numerous universites around the world as a few of my nerdy kirks and career highlights.

So the idea of licensing MY IP is first and foremost at the top of my wish list.

I’m a marketer because I have been online in biz for 15 years and have done continuous professional development in marketing during that time as something I have to do to have a successful biz (not primarily because I love marketing and that’s what I want to do day in and day out LOL).

I get the sense that most peeps here are first and foremost digital marketers :).

My focus here in this group in the first instance is to learn to license my IP. In fact it’s the top priority in my biz right now. Frankly as I get older I’m much more keen in building passive income steams than I am in building an empire and marking a big mark on the world LOL.

So I realise I may well be a minority in this group but I’m hopeful that the information and wisdom of this group will be hugely helpful for me in seeing me get my “crazy arse project” off the ground :).

I want to totally flip the switch on my approach to lead gen.

Mission:

Turn lead gen from being a paid expense to a passive income stream instead.

Goal

Aquire 60 sales a year (20 a quarter) from partners while also building a small passive income stream (4-6K per month) by licensing my work/ IP as solutions that fill holes , add value and increase conversion in their programs.

For Partners:

I offer bonus content/ modules to add to their offer that is unique and evocative that will increase their conversions, make them stand out amongst competitors, add value, fill holes and greatly increase their clients results.

It won’t cost them anything up front. Instead I’d ask for a small % AFTER their client pays them. (Somewhere between 5-10%).

Further more if any of their clients decides to work further with me (on tangential topics not the same as my partner) as a result of consuming my bonus content I’ll also pay my partner my referral thank you fee (10%).. so it may well work out that THEY make some passive income from me.

For me

Over the years I’ve seen that one of the best lead gen strategies for me is to actually get out and teach for others. Even just a bonus guest class I’ve done for some of my students in their programs in the past has brought in dozens of clients.. and ideal clients at that. I want to go all in on this idea and see what I can create with it.

So my objectives are

Essentially license for leads, after having a teaching experience with me some peeps might want to come and do more extensive work with me in related topics
And secondly start to build passive income licensing my IP (strong goal to diverse income streams and start slowing down!)

Questions to resolve and things I’m hoping I can learn here in this group (not all in one go).

How do I go about pitching this to potential partners?
What do I need to put in place in terms of official licensing agreements and paperwork and how do I go about this?
How do I best go about delivering the content (do I have it on my platform, or package it for them to put on their platform?)
How do I know how their sales are going and that they are actually paying me per sale as agreed?
Is it possible for me to actually capture more than just the leads that specifically reach out to me privately from the bonus module.. is it possible to collect all the leads that consume my bonus content?

I’m wondering if questions 3,4,5 aren’t all related in solution.

I was watching Travis in one of his recordings talking to a client about a technical set up of getting a partners clients to essentially opt in to THEIR system (Kajabi) so they can deliver the bonus content to them

… I’m open to ideas here though, won’t my partners prefer having the content woven into their product and looking cohesive?

I also obviously need to work out what I’ll need to do / offer that will make it worthwhile for partners to give me royalties on the content. Open to feedback here.

I’m not really interested in the approach of giving my content away for free (even for leads) I could do that easily already… I want to do really high value and highly relevant content for the partner and I definitely want to build an income stream from it.

What makes content valuable enough that is worth negotiating a % for it?

and lastly I want to make this offer an absolutely no brainer for potential partners, a total win/ win/ win for all involved (including the consumers).

So if anyone has any extra suggestions or things to consider that I haven’t thought of, I’m open to feedback!
