Connecting with CEOs
There are a few CEOs, business owners, and influencers I’d like to connect with.
Maybe we’ll be able to do a deal together - maybe not…
If not? Being on their radar could lead to unexpected opportunities down the line.
The problem is everyone wants these people's attention.
So how am I going to stand out when they get hundreds of DMs and pitch emails a day?
Hopefully, by being personal.
…And skipping the places most people try to reach them entirely…
Instead?
I'm sending them a thoughtful physical gift with a handwritten letter.
In this case I know this person LOVES old marketing books.
He’s mentioned a few in previous interviews and shown off others on his Instagram.
So I found an 80-year-old, 1st edition, of a James Webb Young (copywriting legend) book called “Diary of an Adman - The War Years.”
It’s not an expensive book - I paid about $60 - but since it’s old it’s not super easy to find.
Which is important because this person could buy anything they want.
The newest iPad, laptop, or Fitbit isn’t going to make them raise an eyebrow.
(And will probably be given to their assistant.)
But something unique or hard to find?
…Something they wouldn’t, or couldn’t, buy for themselves?...
That might work.
We’ll find out:-)
