It’s Friday!! And while I certainly enjoy the feeling of reaching the end of another work week, I don’t look at Friday as a day to simply coast toward the weekend. For me, intentionality means finishing the week the same way I try to begin it — with purpose. Today is a more casual office Friday, and with a cooler August day here in NY, I went with light grey trousers, a checked shirt, brown shoes and a coordinating belt. Relaxed? Absolutely. But still intentional. I think there is something important about finishing things well. Whether it is the work week, a meeting, a project, or simply the commitments I made to myself on Monday, I want to arrive at the finish line knowing I gave the week my attention all the way through. And then comes the weekend. I try to be just as intentional about that time. Time with family. Time to slow down. Time to enjoy some of the things I love. Time to reflect. And time to reset so that when Monday arrives, I’m ready and excited to begin again. The older I get, the more aware I become that none of these days are promised. Every day really is a blessing. Happiness is also a choice. I choose to be happy. I choose to be thankful. And I choose to be grateful — not just when everything goes perfectly, but every single day I’m fortunate enough to wake up and have another opportunity to live, work, learn and spend time with the people I love. So today I’ll finish the work week strong… …and then very intentionally enjoy the weekend. 😎 Be grateful. Choose happiness. Finish strong.

I can't remember where I originally heard this, but it seems to be something a lot of people have either forgotten or never heard... The people that matter aren't impressed by things, they are only impressed by people. A Rolex on a random wrist means nothing more than a receipt. The important factor isn't the watch, but the wrist. Any interesting watch on an impressive gentleman's wrist becomes a status symbol - because of the wrist that's wearing it. There's a reason the phrase, "an empty suit," even exists. It's because the suit doesn't make the man; the man - or woman, for that matter - makes the suit. Buying things that a significant number of people can purchase does not impart status. Striving to be the best version of yourself, however, demonstrates a status that cannot be purchased...

So on this Fun Fit Friday I am trying out one of the outfits I intend to take away to Japan at the end of September. The brown crew neck is one of the 3 new tops I purchased specifically for the trip, it is a long shiny knitted cotton top, one I can layer or just wear as an inbetween piece. Being brown it should go with pretty much everything I am taking away, which is mainly Green, Blue and Browns, I went for a little drive to find a nice place for photos, this “art work” is in the new area they are building in Googong as our little township grows, I tried a fun little photo in the first shot, but as you can see I stood a little to close to the edge of the frame. I don't know about you guys, but Fall is by far my favorite season here in the Chicagoland area. You get to wear great shirts, boots, jackets and coats. I'm breaking into my Fall stuff a little early. Today I'm wearing my Timberland Pro pants, Smith Mills flannel, Hamilton Khaki King watch, and one of my pair of Asolo hiking boots. If you do any resl hiking or orienteering like I do, you owe it to yourself to try a pair of Asolo boots. They are true hikers, not your typical Merrell, Keen, or Salomon (although some of the Salomon boots are actually quite capable hikers, just not quite as hard core as the Asolo's) Wednesday is typically my last day of the week in the office as I'm generally remote on Thursday and Friday.
