I bought some 34 waist jeans 'with a bit of stretch'. I wore them for a while and they were really loose so I measured them and it turned out they were a 36, or so I thought. Turns out they WERE a 34 but the little bit of wear I'd given them had stretched them to a 36, and they felt uncomfortably loose. I have had issues with stretch waistbands before so shouldn't have bought these. What's the idea of a stretch waistband anyway? We buy the size we want because it suits us - why would we buy something that is going to feel bigger than it is because of the stretch? I think the rule has to be that I don't buy anything with a stretch waistband, and if that limits my choices, so be it. But I feel a fool for thinking that this time would be different ...
