While the technical difference between these terms can be somewhat pedantic, especially when dealing with the general population, it is always important to understand the technical details in order to have an intelligent conversation on the subject at hand.

In other words, context matters...

If a random person compliments your outfit by using an incorrect term, the appropriate response is most likely a simple, "thank you."

When discussing the terminology itself or the proper application of the garments, especially in a community such as this - well, that's when words and definitions matter.

I'm going to dig a bit more into this channel but, at first glance, I may have found another channel to follow...
