I tracked down the coat I was looking for or a very similar one on Vestiaire (fancy Vinted or the like) & one of the services they offer is to authenticate & check the item to make sure it is what it claims to be.
They authenticated it (including signing off the colour) but have flagged a couple of small marks. The marks wouldn’t bother me but what does is the cost appears to a completely different colour in their photos - almost a khaki compared to the dark orange of the sellers photos (the colour it’s meant to be).
Additionally it appears to have a tag not in the seller’s original photo. Perhaps it’s the middle panel being ruffled up, but I’m not sure.
I reached out to their customer service about it and all they can do is relay the same info as the authentication report. I did ask if they would have altered the colour of the photos to better show the marks but they didn’t know. I paint so I know lights & camera settings can really affect colour reproduction, but they would be the most extreme case I’ve seen. Like the colour of the suit supply label is cream in the seller’s photos & almost green in theirs.
I’m torn, if it is the colour in the seller’s photos I want it, but if it’s not I’ve spent a load of money on something I’ll have to go through the hassle of selling on.
The first phot is the seller’s image the authentication team have circled to show the areas they’re highlighting, the second is one of their photos.
Because they’ve identified these issues I can reject it. I’m really not sure what to do.
