OOTD-CW - 10 June 2026
In addition to a fairly full work day, the day brings about a much grander affair: my eldest will walk in his graduation ceremony, having completed high school. I've told both of my boys that their college ends only after at least one PhD, so he's got several more years ahead of him. Regardless, he has gone from a young 14-year old freshman, attempting to make the cross-country team the summer before classes began to an honorable young man, hungry to move into a new phase of education and sports competition (X country and track, where he runs the long distance races). He has learned how to fall in love, maintain a romantic relationship over time (they are coming up on 3 years), how to persevere in a very advanced academic program (he was the first year of students admitted to new program where he took half of his classes as AP classes at his high school and the other half at a local community college), how to manage himself in a job and earn respect of his colleagues and bosses, how to manage his finances, and even how to stutter or fail and still get up, dust himself off, and continue onward.
I am incredibly proud of the young man he has become. Not because of how it reflects on me or was my doing, but because he made many more wise choices than bad ones. He asks for input on a tough issue, but ultimately makes his own decision.
For the ceremony, I let Logan pick out the suit and my app and I put together the rest of the suit.
• Suit — SJ-013, SL-022 (Mantoni): A light gray Mantoni windowpane suit in lightweight woven wool with navy and light blue accent lines creating a sophisticated pattern scale of 4. The 80% lined jacket features notched lapels, dual rear vents, and paired flap pockets—tailored in Q4-2025 for a precise fit. High-rise trousers with 1.25" cuffs complete the silhouette, offering both belt and suspender anchors for versatile styling.
• Shirt — DS-044 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A white non-iron poplin French cuff dress shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt with a semi-spread collar (5" spread). Cotton construction with medium opacity, soft hand feel, and maximum formality rating of 5/5. The adjustable French cuffs with square edges provide the perfect canvas for distinguished cufflinks on this milestone day.
• Undershirt — US-002 (Ralph Lauren Polo): A white cotton crew neck undershirt that provides clean coverage without show-through under the medium-opacity dress shirt. Classic Ralph Lauren quality for all-day comfort during a long graduation ceremony.
• Suspenders — SB-007 (Kirby Allison): Sovereign Grade Ancient Madder braces in dark navy 100% silk, handmade in the United Kingdom. Geometric floral pattern at scale 3 adds subtle sophistication, while black calf leather tabs and Y-back construction provide secure button attachment. The navy coordinates beautifully with the suit's windowpane lines while maintaining a distinct visual identity.
• Tie — NT-041 (Fort Belvedere): A true navy grenadine silk tie from Fort Belvedere—3-fold construction, untipped, with slip stitch and matte finish. At 3.5" width and 58.5" length, it offers excellent drape (4/5) and creates easy dimples (5/5). The textured weave harmonizes flawlessly with the windowpane suit, projecting understated executive authority for both boardroom and bleachers.
• Pocket Square — PS-009 (Fort Belvedere): White Irish linen pocket square with signature blue X-stitch yarn edging. The 14" size offers excellent foldability, while the blue accent echoes the suit's windowpane lines and the grenadine tie's navy tones. A tri-peak fold reinforces sharp geometry and complements the celebratory formality of the occasion.
• Cufflinks — CL-009 (Fort Belvedere): Sterling silver eagle claw cufflinks with onyx ball—double-sided design with a smaller eagle claw and onyx ball on the back side. At $535 retail, these are a distinguished conversation piece that adds quiet luxury to the French cuff presentation. The black onyx complements the navy color story while the silver matches the watch and tie bar metals.
• Footwear — DSh-013 (Brooks Brothers): Brooks Brothers Dirty Bucks in light tan suede—a classic American summer shoe with Blake stitch construction and crepe soles. Thick flat unwaxed cotton laces add authentic preppy character. Made in the USA, these quintessential bucks pair perfectly with the light gray suit for warm-weather graduation elegance.
• Socks — DSo-075 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf dress socks in gray with blue shadow stripe, crafted from Italian compacted cotton yarn in midweight construction. The gray base coordinates with the suit while the blue stripe ties into the windowpane accent colors. Fort Belvedere's OTC construction ensures they stay up throughout the ceremony and reception.
• Watch — W-007 (Stührling): Stührling Skeletal Automatic dress watch with white/skeleton dial, 44mm stainless steel case, and black alligator-embossed leather strap. Cathedral hands and elaborate skeleton display make this an excellent conversation starter. Paired with Apple Watch W-001 on the right wrist for practical daily functionality.
• Tie Bar — TA-011 (Sonia Jewels): A 2" polished 925 sterling silver slide-on tie bar—solid construction with minimalist design. Matches the cufflinks' silver tone and watch case, maintaining cohesive metal harmony across the outfit.
• Pen — P-001 (Montblanc): The Montblanc 146 LeGrand Meisterstück fountain pen in precious resin with platinum trim and Moderna Red ink. A leadership-grade writing instrument made in Germany—perfect for signing the proud-father guest book and any congratulatory cards.
• Business Card Carrier — BCC-005 (Frank Clegg): American-made goatskin bifold card case in Bluestone color. Handcrafted in the USA with grain texture and dual interior pockets—business formal appropriate while coordinating with the outfit's blue undertones.
• Fragrance — FR-019 (Creed Wild Vetiver): Creed's newest 2026 release—a woody floral eau de parfum opening with bergamot, pink pepper, and Timur, developing through rose centifolia and blackcurrant, settling into earthy vetiver with cedarwood and amberwood. Perfect for spring occasions, it captures the spirit of "an English garden party wandering into the wild"—refined yet untamed sophistication for a day celebrating new beginnings.
• Ring — R-001 (Ellie's Jewelry): Platinum and diamond wedding ring—always included, always meaningful.
Today's Color Story: Light Gray Sophistication with Navy Accents
Occasion Notes: This outfit was specifically designed for a milestone day—my son's high school graduation ceremony plus video meetings with clients and colleagues). The light gray windowpane suit reads celebratory without being casual, while Fort Belvedere accessories (tie, pocket square, cufflinks, socks) create a cohesive luxury statement. The Kirby Allison Ancient Madder suspenders elevate the ensemble beyond standard business attire, and the dirty bucks keep things seasonally appropriate for the warm June day.
