Local win: Stage managing New Works Weekend at local theater
Stage managing is one of those jobs you don't know about if you're outside the fine arts community. It is one-third janitor, one-third "den mother" and one-third God.
Essentially the director owns the show before opening night. The stage manager owns it for the rest of the run. Every set change, every light cue, costume changes, starting the show, resetting the show for the next performance at the end. The stage manager is the one responsible for making it happen in a smooth, coordinated manner.
So, yeah, that's me, in the upper-left hand corner.
