Laundry: HELP!

I’ve been having a major problem with shirts smelling after washing.

They go into the washer smelling like me (after a long day, a shirt isn’t fresh, but it isn’t bad). After washing, they come out with a sour/wet towel smell.

I’ve tried washing with borax, I’ve run my machine through a “tub clean” cycle, I’ve tried washing fewer shirts at a time and on a heavy duty cycle, I’ve tried different detergents- it’s very frustrating.

Has anyone had this problem and solved it?
