Denim vest outfits

Good day to you all.

About 2 years ago i bought this black denim vest. Now recently i tried this outfit and i am a bit unsure about the shirt color/vest combination. (Too much dark i think)

Maybe some of you have some tips on how to wear this item and what to combine it with?

I ordered a lighter flannel earlier this week and i think that that combo will look better, i'll post an ootd of that outfit soon to see how it feels.
