Check Your Email (Worth the read)
Good Morning Gentlemen,
I have a scenario for you this morning. You are going to apply for a position at a company that is perfect for you. The pay is excellent , benefits, retirement, the position is exactly what you wanted. You put on your best suit everything is in place. You walk in for this position and interview and your confidence is high. You fill out the application and they call you in for the interview. You walk in, sit down the person conducting the interview scans your application over and begins the interview. At the conclusion he states “ We appreciate you coming in and we will be making our decision very soon and email you with our decision. Is this a good email?” And he looks down and your email is bigbubba@gmail.com
Gentlemen, being a gentleman is more than just style of clothing and accessories. It involves much more. Your email should be that of a professional email.
I know they have free emails like gmail, hotmail, and many others. That’s fine, but your email need to reflect a mature gentleman not that of an immature person. If you are going to use free emails, then keep it simple with your name in it and avoid unnecessary words. You can have the best looking suit in, nice shirt, shoes shined, but if your email is hungoverjohn@gmail.com you probably will not get the job.
I will tell you this, I personally found out that if you spend a couple of dollars and get a personal private email account it will enhance your life and getting a position you are looking for. If you are self employed or working a side job this is imperative, even if you want to impress that special person in your life a private email is the best way to go. When I was single and dating, I realized this and there is nothing like having a business card with your name on it, your phone number, and a private email address on it that will impress everyone. I have had a private email account for years and it has gotten me so my offers in work, and when I was dating it really impressed ladies when they see a private email account not a generic email. This goes also with if you want to impress people get business cards with your information on them. Now you do not have to put you home address on them, but your name, phone number, email address on them. Trust me it will enhance your gentleman style more than you can imagine. For me I had a P.O. Box, private email account, on my business cards when I was starting out.
This accomplished several things, I never gave out my personal address to anyone that I did not want to have, and also with a private email account you avoid advertisements and a lot if junk mail coming into you email inbox. Now don't get me wrong I have a free email about that I use when I have to register an email for a purchase because I know that they are going to flood my email account with junk and I know they will sell your email information to third parties. On that note, private email accounts have safeguards to help avoid this as well. But I only give out my personal email address out to people that I want to have it and I am in control of who gets its. Now if it is someone that I am talking to or met and they want my my number and I am really not interested, I politely say I don't’ t give out my cellphone number to people but I can give you my email address and I give them my free email address, no harm, was not rude, and they left feeling valued and respected and I now have them going through my free email address to where I can not worry being bothered by them. I now use a dot business card which is a digital business card that I can tap the person phone with it, or they can scan the QR Code on it and it will automatically download my business card to their phone . I now do not have to buy business cards anymore this one card that you can personalize is all I need now.
Free advice; Gentlemen, be very careful about what you have on social media accounts like facebook, instagram, etc. I can tell you as an employer when we go to hire someone, we check their social media accounts to see what type of person they truly are when they are not working or applying for a job.
