Good afternoon gentlemen,
Have you gone to a store or a restaurant and while you are trying to order, pay for something, or ask a question you see that person on their phone? Or maybe you go somewhere and you look around and in a room full of people everyone is on their cellphone? Better yet you are walking down the street or in a mall and all you see is people walking looking at their cellphones?
How many of you seen videos of people walking looking things or falling into water because they are distracted. As many of you know I started this section of my journey of being a gentleman with de digitizing my life. And one thing I have done was rely less on my cellphone in my day to day task. But I see so many people that live by their cellphones. They cannot go 15 minutes without looking at their cellphones. My daughter got in trouble and had her cellphone taken away when she was like 14 yrs. (Mind you I felt she was too young for one, but her mother thought otherwise ) but she was in her room and instead of coming into the den to talk to me she sent me a text. Now mind you we are in the same house and like maybe 60-70 feet away. I told her we do not communicate that way. Go to Walmart and you see cashiers on employees on the floor can’t even work because they are on their cellphones.
There was a time when a person left their house to go to work and you did not talk to them until they got home in the evening. And even then unless they had an answering machine, you had to wait till you see them to talk to them for them to know you were looking for them. Gentlemen don’t let your cellphone run your life. Do not let the communication device cost your job. Do not become dependent on your cellphone to where you cannot function without it.
