I am not referring to country and western here. On a side note-when I bought my 2017 f-150 back in ‘20 it was on kvoo, the 100 year old Big Country station and Ive never changed it. Love the music-So clearly this isn’t a dig on western wear. Rather, I have posted several times on my affinity toward British country attire: tweeds, woolens and wearing a Barbour jacket in lieu of a sports coat. Barbour is the quintessential country attire in the UK and abroad. But what about the US equivalent: Filson. Barbour was founded in 1894. Filson was founded in 1897.
Filson grew its fame from providing the go-to gear for loggers and hunters battling the brutal NorthWest US environments of Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Today it is a well made garment that demands a hefty ( many would agree too hefty) premium. I try to pick them up on sale when possible.
SO……if a Barbour coat works as a sportcoat why not an Americanized country version. My son accidentally left the chocolate tin cloth short lined cruiser jacket by Filson in my truck as he performed with the band yesterday. Muhaaaaa-revenge for all the garments pilfered out of my closet by him.
