We went to Fort Meigs for their Grand Tactical Reenactment Event. Fort Meigs is a War of 1812 site where a seize and battle happened in 1813. The Fort is located on the Maumee River and is South of Toledo. The Maume runs into Lake Erie. This was a reasoble day trip for us, roughly two and a half hours north by car. I am wearing matching breeches and waistcoat that would be appropriate for the era with a traditional block printed scarf. The socks are modern over the calf but that go well the breeches. The choice of hat and shoes had more to do with the weather as it was cool and wet. I chose the flatcap as it does match in color and honestly would take the rain better then my John Bull. And I did have a Columbia Michigan State rain jacket that I occasionally slipped on to keep dry and warm up a bit. Robin also had a Columbia jacket, hers was purple. She was wearing a white blouse and green knit trousers. After we left wa had a late lunch/early supper at the Iony Packo’s location in Maumee. The cabbage role was definately worth ordering should any of you end up in the Toledo area.
