The Mountain of Incompetence Is Where Real Change Begins
The Most Painful Realizations Are Usually Gifts
When you uncover a deficit in your life..
especially in an area that actually matters..
it can be crushing.
There’s grief there.
Embarrassment.
A quiet realization that you’ve been operating from thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that aren’t serving you anymore.
And the resistance that follows is real.
We cling to what’s familiar.. even when it’s wrong.
We defend old stories.
We protect identities that no longer fit.
That resistance alone can steal half a lifetime.
Here’s the paradox though.
Surrender is the most important step..
but it isn’t the hardest one.
The hardest part comes just after.. when you're sitting at the bottom of the mountain of incompetence.
It’s humbling in a way nothing else is.
No excuses.
No narratives.
Just truth.
For a long time I thought that moment meant failure.
Now I see it differently.
It’s a gift.
Because by definition.. if you can clearly see what’s broken..
you’re no longer walking blindly.
You’re stepping off the wrong path and onto the right one.
That realization changes everything.
I’ve stared at that mountain a few times now.
Different seasons. Different lessons.
And I can honestly say I’m grateful for all of it.. especially the pain.
What once felt like devastation now feels like excitement.
Because the amount of power.. knowledge.. and capability you’re about to acquire
is intentional.
Purposeful.
And in its own way.. divine.
