Most people ruin their chances with high-level people in the first 10 seconds.
Most people ruin their chances with high-level people in the first 10 seconds.
I’ve met and interviewed some of the most successful entrepreneurs, multi-millionaires, and even billionaires.
A lot of people make mistakes over and over; that is, they rush up and immediately ask for something.
I watched someone walk up to a well-known figure and ask, "Can you be on my podcast?" Bad move.
👉🏻 Why?
✅ Because that’s what everyone does. High-level people get non-stop requests. The moment they see you as just another person asking for something, it’s game over.
📍 Here’s what I would have done instead (and what I teach my clients to do):
1️⃣ Compliment with Authenticity: “Hey [their name], I love your content. It’s truly changed my life."
2️⃣ Ask for permission, not a favor: “Would it be okay if I sent you a DM about exactly how?”
3️⃣ Don’t push—plant the seed: When they say yes (and they almost always do), send a genuine message later.
This small shift makes all the difference. Instead of coming off as a fan asking for something, you stand out. You show respect, confidence, and long-term thinking.
