I’m glad I learned these lessons, but instead of you doing it too, learn from my mistakes, save yourself some time by reading this.
- Perfection is the enemy of progress. I used to get stuck in the cycle of trying to make everything perfect. The truth? Perfection doesn’t exist. It’s better to launch, test, and tweak along the way than to wait for the “perfect” moment that never comes. All of business is just split testing what works.
- You can’t do everything alone. When I started, I wore every hat—marketing, sales, client work, admin. But outsourcing and building a strong team has been a game-changer. You grow faster when you focus on what you're best at and let others handle the rest.
- Not every client is worth the money. Early on, I said “yes” to every client. Spoiler alert: bad clients cost you more than they’re worth. Set boundaries, be selective, and work with people who respect your time and expertise.
- Invest in yourself. I wish I’d invested in courses, mentors, and coaching sooner. The return on investing in your own skills and mindset is huge. Don’t be afraid to spend money to make money—it’s how you scale faster.
- Failures are just data points. Instead of beating myself up over mistakes, I’ve learned to see them as lessons. Failed campaigns, lost clients, or missteps in hiring—they’re all just data. Learn from them, adjust, and keep moving forward.
