How you can use youtube analytics to create a hook, story, offer that works.
YouTube analytics is a wonderful tool to dissect your hooks, stories, and offers. The feedback you get is invaluable.
After joining this skool community, I mustered up the courage to start posting YouTube shorts every day. After only one week, it gave enough feedback to make the necessary changes to create engaging content.
Here is watch I learned:
Reach is how many times a video is shown in a feed or other feature on youtube. More reach means more potential for others to see it.
Furthermore, there is a stat for how many people choose to view versus swipe away. This shows a ratio that tells you how effective your hooks are at getting attention or pattern interrupting.
The engagement tab shows watch time, average view duration, and retention. Each stat is important for painting the picture of engagement.
Watch time shows the accumulated time of all views. Generally, the higher is better. Though the ratio of views versus watch time is a better indicator.
For example, a video could have lots of views with a decent number for the watch time, but if your view count is lower while your watch time is the same or higher, then it would mean your video is more engaging.
Average view duration is the average of all views and how long they watched. Higher the better. The view duration also is referred to as the retention rate.
Audience retention is a graph that shows the percentage of viewers watching at any given moment within your video. This graph is an overview of how engaging your content is, so it’s a wonderful stat to judge your performance. You can pinpoint where viewers are dropping off in your videos. This exactly where you need to evaluate and tweak.
If your hook is ineffective you'll see a huge drop off at the beginning. If your story needs work your retention will be low.
You can have the best offer in the world, but if your hooks and stories are performing poorly then you will always have less people to take action on the offer.
If you have a high engagement, but people do not take action on your offer, then you need to create a better offer.
The goal is to create engaging content that grabs attention so you have a chance to serve them with your irresistible offer.
Reach = More opportunities for attention.
Views vs swipe aways = How effective your hooks are.
Engagement, retention, and watch times = How compelling your story and content is.
