I hope everyone had a fun halloween. I wasn't even planning this, but when I grabbed a flannel yesterday morning I couldn't resist! How'd I do?
Want to give a shout out to one of our most famous Funnel Hackers, the one-and-only Mr. Alex Hormozi!
Here are 4 Things I Learned from Dressing Up as Alex Hormozi for Halloween:
- BRANDING IS KEY - It was pretty easy to dress up like Alex: Flannel, shorts, hat (acquisition.com logo was a bonus), hair, beard, and of course a nose strip—muscles were a little harder 💪 . Alex has done an AMAZING job building up a personal brand. He is immediately recognizable to those who know him and he consistently stays on brand in his appearance, his messaging, and his associations. As entrepreneurs, big or small, we can stand out in a crowd by incorporating this concept.
2. FOCUS ON YOUR AUDIENCE - Alex has 3M followers on IG, 2.8M followers on YouTube, 500K followers on LinkedIn, a hugely popular podcast, and has sold hundreds of thousands of books. But in a company of 250+ with a large sales team and many people who I would assume would know Alex—NO ONE KNOWS HIM. How is that even possible?? It's because when define your niche and focus your outreach to your target audience (ICP, Persona, etc.) 99.9% of people won't know you, but you can still amass a huge following. So don't try to be recognizable to everyone. It makes me think of the 1000 True Fans concept, find your tribe and lead them and don't worry about everyone else!
3. DON'T WORRY WHAT OTHERS THINK - Knowing Alex and what he stands for made me proud to imitate him on Halloween. It was fun for me and my entrepreneur wife who knows Alex but doesn't follow him much. Other people who don't know Alex thought I was: a Wayne/Garth mashup, a trucker, a lumberjack, a bluegrass singer. Most just asked why I was wearing a nose strip in public or if something happened to my nose. I was never embarrassed or ashamed by any of this. As you go out into the world, you can just be yourself and not worry about what others think. I'm sure that Alex Hormozi has been slammed millions of times because of how he dresses and how he looks, but when you are true to who you are and your values it doesn't much matter what those who don't know you think.
4. HAVE & BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL - A big part of why we are all here is that we really like Russell. We like who he is as a person, what he stands for, we support his mission, and we are attracted by his vision for us as entrepreneurs. You are also that person for your audience. You are the leader of your tribe. You are the attractive character. After dressing like Alex for a day, all I wanted to do was eat protein, go to the gym, and record some YouTube videos about business 🤣! What we represent should inspire our audience to be better and do better and your brand and products should align with those things. There's a beautiful synergy in leading and providing value to a group of people and we should not only take the responsibility seriously, but we should all go take on that responsibility.
Here's a question for the community...did anyone dress up as this year???
