Welcome Back to The Block
Welcome Back to the Block What is a Comeback Athlete? It's someone who used to be a swimmer, or has always wanted to be one, and has decided to get back in the water and train like an athlete again, even with a career, a family, and a full calendar. You're not chasing what you did at 18. You're building the strength, fitness, and confidence to compete on your own terms now. Here's what that looks like: - Getting through a full main set without your form falling apart in the last 200 - Racing your kids in the pool and giving them a real challenge - Lifting because it makes you faster and more durable, not as punishment - Showing up consistently, even when there's no meet on the calendar - Signing up for a masters meet, an open water swim, or a race because you want to see what your body can do - Getting your athletic identity back and keeping it for decades Maybe you swam competitively and can't imagine life without the water. Maybe you're just now becoming the athlete you always wanted to be. Either way, you're in the right place. This community is for adults who want to get back on the block and train with purpose, without giving up their careers, their families, or the rest of their lives. I'm Jared, a former South African National Team swimmer and two-time All-American at Florida State, and I've been coaching since 2016. Inside this community I'll share swim and strength workouts, race prep strategies, mindset shifts, and simple nutrition guidance built around the Three Pillars: Strength, Fuel, and Consistency. Training is organized with the 3:2:2 Protocol, which is 3 Movement Days, 2 Strength Days, and 2 Recovery Days, so you always know what the week looks like. My goal is to stay competitive on my own terms and help you do the same. Introduce yourself in the comments: what did swimming mean to you, and what does your comeback look like? Let's get back on the block. -Jared
New Program is up
I know we are a ways away from the holidays. But we are all probably dreading how we can stay on track with our workouts when times get hectic. So with that in mind, I have created a 3 tier course that allows you to safely train through the chaos without spending all your time working out. Short, sharp workouts, designed to get you moving, feeling good, and maintain momentum through the holidays! Please enjoy and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Big Announcement
I built something for anyone who has been thinking about getting back in the water but wasn't ready for 1-on-1 coaching yet. It's called Back on the Block: a 6-week swim and strength program, fully self-paced, with every session written out for you. What's inside: - 6 weeks of swim sets (3 days a week to start, 4 days a week from Week 3) - 2 illustrated strength days each week, no guesswork on exercises - A baseline test in Week 1 and a retest in Week 6, so you see your progress in real numbers - Recovery and fueling guidance built in This is the plan I wish someone had handed me when I started my own comeback. If you know someone who is ready to get back to swimming but isn't ready for full coaching, this is exactly what to send them. Head over to the classroom tab in the community to get started

Why training in the morning is a game changer for me
A lot of us in this community are millennials—30s, 40s, even pushing into our 50s. Careers are demanding, family life is busy, and yet there’s still that fire to feel and perform like an athlete again. The problem? By the end of the day, energy is gone. Deadlines, kids’ activities, and life in general usually win. That’s why I’m such a big believer in morning training. It’s not always easy to roll out of bed and move, but the payoff is huge: - Consistency sticks. You get it done before the day can throw curveballs. - Energy and focus rise. Training early fires up your brain and sets you up for a sharper day. - Better control over fat loss and muscle retention. Especially important as metabolism naturally slows with age. - Improved sleep. Evening workouts often mess with rest—morning sessions help regulate your rhythm. - Lower stress baseline. You start the day with a win and carry that mental edge everywhere else. For millennial athletes trying to balance careers, families, and fitness, morning movement is a simple shift that changes everything. Curious—how many of you here already train in the mornings? And if not, what’s been the biggest barrier to trying it?
