Weekly Running Round Up
Back after a week's holiday
All-inclusive and managed not to gain weight
No, not because I ran 10 miles every day
Because I had to manage my food intake and have a strategy
Summer is tough for a lot of runners
Routines go out the window
Kids are off
And yes, holidays can be amazing
But not always great for your running and consistency
This can produce a challenge for Spring marathoners especially
You get into your race fairly early
You get the buzz and excitement
But then kinda nothing until you start training
Which is usually the start of the year
So managing the "gap" can be challenging
You have Summer
Then, thanks to the modern age of consumerism
The Christmas stuff starts appearing in August and September
And trust me, as someone who has worked in the fitness game for nearly 20 years
"F it, it's Christmas" can start WAY too early for a lot of people
So what do you do?
Well, a good example would be someone who joined my program last week
Set some goals for Autumn/Winter
Get used to following a plan
Stay sharp and focused
Be ready for hitting the marathon block at the start of the year
Thinking "it will be okay" is not smart
Going into a marathon block "cold" is also not smart
Base building and momentum make a HUGE difference
And if you are doing your first marathon in Spring 2027?
That could be the difference that makes the difference
So listen, if August is a write-off?
That's okay.
Just don't let that become the rest of the year
And if you need help staying on point and smashing that Spring goal?
Drop me a reply and let's chat.
Until next time.
John
