IRON MAIDEN: BURNING AMBITION
Iron Maiden's documentary, Burning Ambition, hit select theaters last Thursday (07 May 2026). Being an Iron Maiden fan since 1980, I was inside the Regal Theater at Sunset Station Casino, just 6.8 miles from my house, for the first show at 6 PM PDT. It's advertised as Iron Maiden in their own words, but that's not the entire story. It's also in the words of some fans, writers, their manager, and a few guests, who shall remain nameless so as not to spoil the fun. It's a fantastic trip through Iron Maiden's 50-year history. If you're an Iron Maiden fan, I highly recommend seeing it. Has anyone else seen it? If you have, let me know in the comments below.
Throwback to my old band in London
Iโ€™m the skinny nerdy dude playing the hofner shorty (AKA the cricket bat as they called it there lol). Our name was Atlantic Rising and at one point the John Chapman Band after our front man who wrote all the music, I was very lucky for the opportunity to play with such talent as this group. Good times.

MULTI-SCALE (FANNED-FRET) GUITARS
I cannot remember where I saw one, but I recently saw a guitar with angled frets somewhere on the internet. It looked interesting, so I did a little research. The correct name for such a guitar is a multi-scale or fanned-fret guitar. The big benefits of a multi-scale guitar seem to be expanded tonal range, improved string tension, better intonation for lower (downtuned) tunings, and improved playing ergonomics. They seem to be made mostly as 7- or 8-string guitars. Surprisingly, at least to me, a lot of them are headless guitars. This article is an excellent introduction to multi-scale or fanned-fret guitars. It's got me intrigued. So much so that I'm considering either buying one (such as this Schecter, this Ibanez, this Jackson, or this Jackson) or building one (this kit) with all the necessary hardware and pickup improvements.

Long week.
Itโ€™s been a long week whatโ€™s everyone been up too! Hope everyone that still has a mom or wife with kiddos has a great Motherโ€™s Day Sunday! Record label is sending me a contract to look over! Iโ€™m nervous as heck, they even offered to help me with a publicist. Decent royalty rate too. Not looking forward to having to get a lawyer to look it over but it is what it is.
Kit LP
My son loved his kit bass I built for him, so much that he wants to do a kit LP. Iโ€™ve got him hooked and doing really well at spraying. Making nice progress!
