What are some challenges you faced when learning to play the guitar?

For me it was learning the chords mostly. I am more mechanically inclined and have always had issues with learning chords, notes, etc. I learned by muscle memory and using visual guides on the neck of my bass. There were lots of times I wanted to give up and just put the guitar away, and plenty of times I did! However, I would always come back and start again.
