Demonstrating vs Stating High Value
This post will lean a bit into the old school pickup techniques, but I'm going to make an important point which I think will help some people. In the olden days of the pickup community, there was a term called Demonstrating Higher Value (DHV). Essentially, it is exactly what is sounds like. Communicating to people that you have high status.
The problem which many guys face, however, is that they have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to demonstrate high value. There was this idea that you could embed high status information subtly into stories. While it's true to an extent that you can subtly embed high status information into stories, the problem is that most guys are nowhere near as subtle as they think they are. Too many guys think that telling some story about how they were driving in their Ferrari to pick up their girlfriend from a photoshoot is "demonstrating high value". Firstly, it's not subtle. It's very transparent. Secondly, that story isn't actually demonstrating high value, it's STATING high value. The key word in Demonstrating High Value is "DEMONSTRATING", meaning showing high status with an ACTION, not merely stating high status with words.
To illustrate my point, I'll give some examples. Telling a girl "I know the DJ at xyz." is STATING high value. Introducing a girl to the DJ is DEMONSTRATING high value. Telling a girl that you host a dinner every week is STATING high value. Inviting her to the dinner is DEMONSTRATING high value. Saying "I'm giving a speech at Harvard next week." is STATING high value. Saying "You should come to the speech I'm giving a speech at Harvard next week." is DEMONSTRATING high value. All of these examples fundamentally give the girl the same information, but the demonstration is much more powerful. The vast majority of your DHV's should be actions, not words. Demonstrating high value is the key. And unlike statements of high value, demonstrations of value don't seem fake or try-hard or seem like bragging. So, turn all your statements into actions. The "problem" is that you can't fake demonstrations. You either know the DJ or your don't. You either are giving a speech at Harvard or your aren't. But that is EXACTLY what makes them so powerful. You are giving the girls undeniable proof that you are who you say you are. So, start building a life in which you can demonstration high value, not just state it.
