In my day, we had to toughen up and take the good with the bad!
Talking with other teachers today i found that slowly they are having to change their ways of teaching, not for the good but for the worse.
- They no longer play games with the class because the students that lose go home and complain to their Mum's, their parents then complain to the school about their child losing a game in school.
- Competitions: everyone has to win a certificate and get a position, scores are marked between 7 and 10, there can be no lower.
- The hardest punishment is to make them stand up in class (put it never works), not allowed to kick them out of the class, can't tell them to report to someone as they don't listen.
- Can't touch them in anyway, not even place your hand on their head to wake them up. If you do their parents will call the school and you'll have to apologise to the student for hitting them.
- You can't push them to read or do the work in the class because they will go home and tell their parents you are horrible to them.
Things have changed so much that are they really getting an education or is it now just a day care centre?
