Hannuka oil miracle dident happen?๐
The Maccabees revolt is an amazing story about jewish warrirors and gods helping hand in battle, but what about the oil miracle?
As a consensus people believe this miracle actually happend. But in fact the oil miracle is not mentioned in the original source texts, its rather a later addition 600 years later.
the events themselves are documented in the Books of the Maccabees (2nd century BCE) and in Josephus (1st century CE) โ with no mention of the miracle of the oil.
The story of the miracle appears only in the Babylonian Talmud, about 600 years after the events, and it does not even appear in the Jerusalem Talmud. Everyone can choose how to interpret that.
I know this sucks jews... but we have enough real and amazing stories to tell.
We need to cut off the lies.
