"Dirty" Kick-offs
You've seen a few NFL kickers do this (Coach Vrabel speak about how it effects his team)... hitting a knuckleball, curveball or screwball that lands within the NFL's Landing Zone (20 yd.line to goal line) that gives returners nightmares.
TRY IT YOURSELF: It's basically a squibb kick, but you try to punch the ball pretty much right in the middle. You, as a high school or college kicker, have the advantage that you don't NEED to land it in any zone. For the NFL, the ball is put on the 40 yard line. THAT'S BAD! But you can use it effectively, especially on bad weather days or when the wind is right in your face. Instead of trying to kick to the end zone (and knowing that you're not going to get it there), use the Dirty Kick Off.
