KICKING on SPRING BREAK?
Many of you are off to warmer climates this week ... of course, taking advantage of some beautiful weather to get a few kicks in. 🏈 So what if Wisconsin just received over a foot of snow?! 🥶 Like @Jim Gorecki , you're in sunny Florida! 😎 Care to share a photo/video of you making any kind of kick? You can be creative. 🤪

@Ellis Wangelin On the other foot, this snow is the snowball kind. It isn't fluffy, it's thick — and you're right, plant foot is likely to slide a bit, so I should take a straighter approach and stay in my K-Zone. Don't try for the fences... it won't go that far. 🤪

NCAA... Listen to Coach Calipari
I bring you all of this NIL stuff (when kickers and punters are at the bottom of the food chain) because it IS THE NEW REALITY of college sports. EVERY level is affected by the choices (or lack thereof) that the NCAA is making simply to save their own skins. If they are in it for the athletes, then they have the power to alter the NEW RULES to become GOOD RULES. This rant by John Calipari, the Arkansas BASKETBALL coach, should be law. It's basically what I believe. We are NOT there yet, but I think, smarter minds will eventually get there. I need high school players who think they want to play in college, active college players and all of their parents to begin to see how this GAME works... and how it most likely WILL WORK.

@Ellis Wangelin The administrators are without proper guidelines. The NCAA has to get a hold of this situation. They are making the college game a disaster for players, coaches and fans because there's no loyalty/continuity to building a successful team. Right now, in D1, if you don't have a huge war chest, you're screwed. In the "pros", the team who finished last gets the first pick of the draft. In this "pro" league, the team that finishes first gets more donors, more money and likely the first PICKS in a draft that only they will win. I hope Coach Calipari's comments are not falling on deaf ears.
Greatest Punt Fake Duo
Many of you have heard of the "Puntrooskie", but have never seen it or had it diagrammed. Watch the YT video from when it was used to great effect by Florida State in 1988. Bobby Bowden seems to get the credit for originating the play... but that's not true. I know, because my father installed the play my senior year at UW-River Falls in 1984, and it worked like a charm. Except, he didn't invent it either... it was actually invented at the high school level by then Coach Bum Phillips back in the 50's... called the "Bummerooski". Bum would later go on to coach in the pros. Maybe your coaching career will follow the same path!!! 🏈 THE DYNAMIC DUO: At Cedarburg High School, we used it a bunch - didn't work EVERY time, just MOST every time.😅 We called these two companion plays, "Felix" and "Oscar". FELIX (top diagram) was a normal short snap punt fake to the personal protector with everyone blocking and running right (punter jumps up in the air like a bad snap to help hold backers for a second). We'd use it when it was 4th and short (3-5 yards). The short snap was enough to fake the other team out where we thought we could get at least 5 yards. Tell your back to run for the first down marker. Awesome to do early in the game somewhere near midfield. Doesn't even matter if you make it or not. (Most likely, you WILL make the first down).BUT, you're really setting up Oscar.* OSCAR (the Puntrooskie, the bottom diagram) looks just the same, except the personal protector catches the snap and immediately places the ball in the waiting hands of the upback (between his legs)! The upback stays put. "Oscar" because he needs to be a great actor by doing NOTHING. Just hold your ground for a 2 count. THEN GO!!! To the LEFT when everyone else is running right. The punter jumps up in the air (just like before) and then runs right. Your upback might get bumped. He needs to be strong and keep the ball protected — a nice wide base. No one will know he has it. It'll be crowded and scary, but green grass will open up and he should run like the devil 👹 to daylight — AWAY FROM EVERYONE!
Transfer Portal for DII & DIII players going DI
NCAA Considers Stronger Penalties for Improper Division I Transfers _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ TLTR: If you've had a good year in D2 or D3 an are looking to MOVE UP to a D1 school... make sure to see your Compliance Officer. Do it wrong and you and your new school can be ZAPPED! _ _ _ FULL STORY: To prevent athletes from transferring to a Division I program without entering the Transfer Portal through the required notification process, the FBS Oversight Subcommittee recently recommended that the Division I Cabinet impose significant penalties on any university that allows an athlete to join its team outside of the established portal procedures. Under current rules, an athlete may still transfer to another university and remain eligible without entering the Transfer Portal, provided the athlete and their family follow the conditions and steps listed below. - The athlete must apply and be admitted to the new university through the normal transfer admissions process, just like any other student. The athletic department may not assist in facilitating the transfer.  - The athlete may not communicate with athletic department staff members at the new school — either directly or through family members or third parties.  - The athlete may not join the team or participate in athletically related activities until they are officially enrolled and attending classes at the university. However, if this recommendation is approved by the Division I Cabinet in April, the following penalties could be imposed: - The head football coach would be prohibited from all coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for six games. - The university would be fined an amount equal to 20% of its football program budget. - The football program’s roster limit would be reduced for the following season. Just days after the FBS Oversight Committee issued its recommendation, the Division I Cabinet signaled its support for the proposal.

@Ellis Wangelin DIII guys can basically do whatever they want, but still need to be enrolled prior to the next semester for them to be eligible. This is where a bunch of kids go wrong because they jump into the Portal and never get picked up. They miss the window to register for a new school and make themselves ineligible for a season... and then quit college and football altogether. Instead of competing for a position on the initial team they chose, they see greener pastures only to find a desert.🐪
