Quickly showing a client progress
When we have a new client increase strength on a movement substantially (+-40%), we will have them do their initial weight they started with right after their set. They are often very happily surprised and remark on it later. Granted lifting a lighter weight after a heavier weight makes the lighter weight feel even lighter (post-activation potentiation I’ve read) but it really drives the progress home.
Here is an example where a client started with 140lbs on a movement and just did a set of 240lbs. Right after doing that set, we say stay there, change the weight and then have them do a few reps of 140lbs.
Others may already do this or something like it but for those that don’t…might be useful, fun and maybe add to retention.
