Question for fellow authors...
If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice before publishing your very first book, what would it be? For me, it would be to focus on building relationships with readers from the beginning, not just finishing the manuscript. I'm curious to hear your answer. What's the one thing you wish you had known sooner?

Murdsearch Website with Video Recording
You clearly know what murder mystery puzzle books are; they are an exploding niche on Amazon. But sometimes we want to just relax and play, and maybe share our wins with our friends. So, a website to play Murdsearch online and even to record video of the gameplay. Enjoy!

Missing royalties on KDP
So, I will sometimes order copies of my books directly from Amazon, if I need a couple copies quickly as Amazon treats author copies like a red headed step child and will often take weeks to process. Because I order this way and pay full retail, Amazon owes me a royalty on each order processed. In June I ordered 10 but Amazon only reported 5 of these on June report. I'm like, wtf? That's half my sales never being reported and never paying a royalty!!! So I reached out to support and here's what they said, "After investigating your royalty concern, I can confirm that the Amazon order in question was manufactured through our Expanded Distribution printers. While Amazon primarily uses Amazon facilities and printers to fulfill orders for your paperback, we occasionally send orders to our Expanded Distribution printers to ensure timely delivery. For orders manufactured through our Expanded Distribution printers, your royalty will appear on your Sales Dashboard approximately 30 days after the end of the month in which the sale occurred. Importantly, your royalty will be calculated using your Amazon distribution channel royalty rate, regardless of where your book is printed. For example: If an Amazon.com order occurs in October and is fulfilled by our Expanded Distribution printers, the sale will report as a standard Amazon royalty at the end of November and will be paid at the end of January, along with other sales reported in November." Here's my concern, how in the hell are we supposed to accurately track marketing effectively if Amazon is delaying reporting of a sale up to 60 days. Also, if I had never noticed this because I was "buying my own books" would they ever had reported it at all? I mean seriously, this feels like an "oops they caught us skimming" kind of explanation to me.

Let's Talk Strike-through Price
This is a very nice gift from Amazon โ€“ your book is sold at a discounted price, but you still receive full royalties. Of course, nobody can tell you for sure how to get it, but some ideas can help you a lot. The last two weeks, I conducted a few experiments to test some of the assumptions I had based on my previous experience. Let me share what I found. 1. Your book should ideally be new, and you need traction. In other words, if you published a book, actively promoted it, and sales are on the rise, it is highly likely you will have a price strike. 2. Do not hesitate to raise the price dramatically. In one instance, I increased the price from 12.95 to 49.95 and got the strike-through price. Yes, it's tempting to buy a few hundred of your own books in such a situation, because it would be profitable. But I do not think it's worth risking your account for a quick buck. 3. If you arrange an ads-heavy launch and strike-through price strategically, you can recoup a significant portion of your net losses during the days of your price strike. What is your experience with strike-through prices? Would you like to add something to my findings?
