My journey
It’s been almost a month since I joined the platform, but I haven’t made much progress because of my eating disorder.
My eating disorder started years ago after doing random diets and cutting out foods I loved like roti, chawal. I would lose weight then start binge eating then go back to strict dieting. This binge restrict cycle has been going on for 6,7 years. Every year I lose weight and then gain it back.
Over the past few years, I’ve learned a lot about nutrition and now understand that I can eat all foods in moderation. Last year i lost 12–13 kg without fully restricting but I was still mentally stuck on calories and weight loss timelines. Eventually the binge eating returned and I regained weight.
Recently I realised I was ordering junk food very often like 17,18 days out of 30 days which made me decide to change my approach.
So i’ve decided to stop focusing on calories and weight loss. My goal is to eat regularly allow all foods reduce junk food stop overeating to the point of feeling sick and build a healthy routine with walking. I’m giving myself enough time 6 8 months if needed to first come out of binge eating and only then think about slow healthy weight loss.
I want an expert advice and off course from other members to if focusing on healing my relationship with food first instead of calories and weight loss is the right approach for me right now.
