My dumb cane
My diffenbachia is about 3 feet tall and just wide and I see the one large cane and two smaller ones and I am thinking of cutting one of the small canes and propagating it. Any suggestions?

Hi from South Africa!
Hello all, I'm from England originally but have been living in the Western Cape of South Africa for the last 28 years. There are some fascinating plants here. I've grown plants in pots intermittently for many years but I'm currently growing things I can eat - mostly herbs... rosemary, thyme, basil, dill, oregano... and also chillies. I also plant some in my garden which I have left to grow pretty wild. Really my first love is animals but I enjoy all things related to nature and wildlife - plant, animal, fungus... I also do a bit of (amateur) photography and enjoy taking close up pics of our very small creatures - even when they are sucking the sap out of my plants. I have recently been given some other pot plants by an elderly neighbour who could no longer look after them, mostly indigenous, and I'm trying to identify them! I live in a (usually) very dry area and it gets pretty hot in summer... mid 30 s to 40 ish this year. We're going into autumn now so it's cooled down and I'm going to see if I can plant a few out or maybe just leave them in pots. They are overcrowded though so I'll need to repot some
Hi from South Africa!
How to secure a tall pot??
I have a tall skinny pot I want to plant. What can I safely put in the bottom to secure it? A big rock or 2? I had heard not to use gravel because the soil will compact around it and cause poor drainage. Help please!
