First Mini Film Challenge 2025 ⚡🌱
How to transform the images in your mind into a film? 🎥 The first films I made were simple, experimental, and far from perfect—but they were born out of a pure love for filmmaking. Let’s be honest, though: they were bad. Really bad. 😅 And because they were bad, I pushed myself to make something good. Looking back, that was my first big mistake. 🚧 It made me hit a wall, and for two years, I made nothing because I kept thinking, The next film has to be amazing. That perfectionism trap is brutal. You want to create something incredible, but instead, you end up stuck, doing nothing. 💀 This is where most aspiring films go to die—in procrastination & perfectionism. But I learned a lesson for the next 10+ years of making films: ✨ The best way to grow is to start small. Forget perfection. Make something every week. You’ll learn more than you ever imagined. You’ll discover your style, experiment with editing, and maybe even decide you prefer black and white to color. 💡 Want to practice lighting? Shoot a short film with lighting as your sole focus. 🤔 Stuck on a story? Film your day, but play with angles, composition, or creative lighting. ⚡ It doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to exist. The undercover name of this challenge is not “mini film,” but “make a bad film.” Just make it. Äh, do it. 🔧 Do it with the things available to you. When I had no money to pay actors, I cooked a great dinner for them as a thank-you. 🎬 If you want to make BIG CINEMA, start SMALL. Stop aiming for a masterpiece and start creating. 🌱 You’ll be amazed at how much you grow when you let go of the pressure and focus on experimenting. 🚀 So, where will this journey take you? Let’s find out together! Comment POPCORN🍿 to take part in the first MINI FILM CHALLENGE

How to quickly get first ideal clients as a freelance filmmaker?
A student asked me how to get their first paying client without a portfolio. 🤔💰 If you have basic skills, try this: 1. Pick a niche you love ❤️ – like kitesurfing, for example. 2. Offer a free test project 🎥 – Ask a local shop owner if you can make a short promo video for them. In return, have them display it in their store, let you leave business cards the store, and post it on your website with your name --> SPREAD IT 3. Use it as proof ✅ – Now have a real project to show. Pitch other kitesurfing shops or surf brands - maybe even somebody lurks on the website of the Surf Shop you promoted and likes your work - Start with low prices, and increase them as you gain experience and proof. 🚀 For Inspiration: FREE TEST PROJECT EXAMPLE: A Tribute to One Eye PAID FILM FOR CLIENT: The Invention of the WetSuit by Jack O´Neill

🎬 Your taste is your compass.
Trust it—even if your skills haven’t caught up yet. If you feel frustrated because what you’re making doesn’t match what you want to make, that’s not a failure. It’s proof that you already have a strong creative instinct. Your job right now isn’t to impress anyone—it’s to close the gap between your taste and your output. That only happens through consistent, imperfect practice. 🎥 Watch films you love and ask why they move you. 📹 Recreate a shot that inspires you. ✂️ Edit a scene until the rhythm feels right. Every small project is a brick in the foundation of your future voice. It is ok to take on jobs, but your portfolio should showcase THINGS YOU LOVE.

📷 That movie you could have started 1 years ago? It could have been finished now. 🌳 But what about the film you could do in one year from now? It starts today. 📸 Shoot. ✂️ Edit. 🎞 Post. Stop waiting for clarity — it doesn’t come from overthinking. It comes from movement. Messy action > perfect hesitation. Every time. No one’s coming to save you. 🚫 Not the algorithm. 🚫 Not a dream client. 🚫 Not some magical moment. You are the moment. Take full ownership. This is your movie — direct it. ⚡️ Protect your energy like your creative life depends on it — because it does.Say no to draining projects. Guard your focus. Surround yourself with people who get it. 📅 Discipline = creative freedom. Routines don’t kill your creativity — they fuel it. 🎯 Make your films. Say what matters. Not what’s trendy. Not what you think others want. Authenticity outlasts everything. And here’s the truth:⏳ You’re not behind. You’re right on time. But only if you start. Today.
