We are constantly told that having a massive "Ultimate Vision" is the key to daily motivation
The problem is that a ten year strategy or a dream life is often useless for getting a client to complete a boring task today
This is due to a behavioural principle called ๐˜ฟ๐™š๐™ก๐™–๐™ฎ ๐˜ฟ๐™ž๐™จ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐Ÿ•‘
The principle - the further away a reward is in time, the less power it has to influence behaviour right now
If a distant vision is the only reward your client has, they wonโ€™t be reinforced enough to act
๐Ÿ“ขTo fix this, you must ๐™„๐™™๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™›๐™ฎ ๐™‘๐™–๐™ก๐™ช๐™š-๐˜ฟ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š๐™ฃ ๐˜ผ๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ
You do this by building a "๐™๐™š๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™–๐™ก ๐˜ฝ๐™ง๐™ž๐™™๐™œ๐™š"
You take a highly uncomfortable daily task and explicitly link it to a deeply meaningful future value
If your client hates sending outreach messages, you help them articulate that every single message sent is a physical brick laid in the wall of their family's future security
You pull the reinforcing power of the future straight into the present moment
Stop relying on distant vision boards
Change the ๐™ฅ๐™จ๐™ฎ๐™˜๐™๐™ค๐™ก๐™ค๐™œ๐™ž๐™˜๐™–๐™ก ๐™›๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ of the work they are doing today
