At least... stop making commands your starting point.
Because here's the truth:
A dog that is overwhelmed...
Overexcited...
Anxious...
Frustrated...
Reactive...
...isn't in the best state to learn.
You can say "Sit."
You can say "Come."
You can say it louder.
You can say it ten more times.
But if your dog's nervous system is in overdrive, they're much more likely to react than to think.
That's why I teach calm before commands.
When a dog learns how to slow down, regulate, and stay connected...
Listening becomes easier.
Focus improves.
Impulse control grows.
Training finally starts to stick.
Obedience isn't the foundation.
Calm is.
If this way of thinking makes sense to you, come join us inside my community. Every day we help dog owners build calmer dogs that can actually think before they react. ๐พ
