No regrets interview approach
Have you ever had an interview where you didn't get the job? If not... you're an outlier!
There are two options when you attend an interview:
  1. Act like you think you are supposed to, or
  2. Be yourself
There are two outcomes
  1. You get the job, or
  2. You don't get the job
That creates four scenarios
a - Act, don't get the job
b - Act, get the job
c - Be yourself, don't get the job
d - Be yourself, get the job
Scenario A - you've put on an act and at the end of it you didn't get the job. Now you're left wondering... if I had just been myself would I have got the job? Regret!
Scenario B - you've put on an act and at the end of it you get the job. What do you do now? Keep up the act for the first 6 months, burning yourself out? Drop the act, and get found out on day 1? Regret!
Scenario C - you've been yourself and you didn't get the job. Ok, not the outcome you wanted, but at least you know they've made a decision based on the real you, and you can accept that. No Regret!
Scenario D - you've been yourself and you get the job! Amazing! You know that you earned it, you know that they like you, you know that you're going to fit in. No Regret - celebration!
