Feeling Overwhelmed? Try One of These (Simple, Real-Life Ways to Reset)
You don’t need a full reset to support your nervous system.
And you don’t need a long routine or a bunch of time either.
Most of the time, it’s not about doing more, it’s about doing something small that actually meets your system where it is.
Here are a few simple ways to come back to yourself today:
𝟭. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡
Even one intentional breath can shift more than you think.
Try letting your exhale be a little longer than your inhale and see what that does.
𝟮. 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝
Gently bring your attention to your environment.
Name a few things you can see. Let your eyes land on something neutral or calming.
This helps your system orient to the present moment.
𝟯. 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲
Notice where your body is supported right now.
The chair, the floor, your feet.
You don’t have to change anything - just noticing can help you settle.
𝟰. 𝐃𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲
Pick something you’re already doing - drinking coffee, washing your hands, walking to another room - and slow it down just a little.
Your system responds to pace more than we realize.
𝟱. 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬
The way you talk to yourself matters.
Even a small shift in tone - something softer, more supportive - can change how the moment feels.
You don’t have to do all of these.
You don’t have to do them perfectly.
Just pick one and see what happens.
💜
Which one feels easiest to try today?
Or is there something small that’s been helping you lately?
