Maybe you were never broken
I think one of the most healing things a person can realize is that maybe they were never actually "broken". Maybe, their nervous system has just been carrying more than anyone realized. I’ve been talking a lot lately in my nervous system community about capacity, overwhelm, and the invisible load people carry and the responses to this conversation have been incredible because so many people are realizing they’ve spent years blaming themselves for things that may have actually been protective adaptations all along. You can almost feel the shift happen in the discussions. That moment where someone stops and realizes: “Oh… maybe I’m not lazy.” “Maybe I’m not weak.” “Maybe I’m not failing at life.” "Maybe I'm not doing it wrong after all!" Usually, when we feel like this, it's a sign that our system has just been carrying more than we realized. And I love it so much when we have these discussions and it happens because I think that understanding these things can change so much. A lot of us grew up believing that if we were struggling to: • keep up • stay patient • stay motivated • handle stress “normally” • or do simple things consistently then something must be wrong with us. But nervous system work starts to introduce another possibility: What if many of the things we criticize ourselves for, or think of as flaws in our personality or morality even, were actually protective adaptations? Not random flaws and not evidence that we’re broken but patterns our nervous systems developed while trying to help us survive, cope, function, stay safe, stay accepted, or keep going. That doesn’t mean those patterns always help us now - some of them can absolutely become exhausting, limiting, or painful over time. But understanding why they developed often creates a completely different kind of relationship with yourself. Usually a gentler one. And I think that’s part of why learning about capacity can feel so emotional for people sometimes.

Feeling Overwhelmed? Try One of These (Simple, Real-Life Ways to Reset)
You don’t need a full reset to support your nervous system. And you don’t need a long routine or a bunch of time either. Most of the time, it’s not about doing more, it’s about doing something small that actually meets your system where it is. Here are a few simple ways to come back to yourself today: 𝟭. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 Even one intentional breath can shift more than you think. Try letting your exhale be a little longer than your inhale and see what that does. 𝟮. 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 Gently bring your attention to your environment. Name a few things you can see. Let your eyes land on something neutral or calming. This helps your system orient to the present moment. 𝟯. 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 Notice where your body is supported right now. The chair, the floor, your feet. You don’t have to change anything - just noticing can help you settle. 𝟰. 𝐃𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲 Pick something you’re already doing - drinking coffee, washing your hands, walking to another room - and slow it down just a little. Your system responds to pace more than we realize. 𝟱. 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 The way you talk to yourself matters. Even a small shift in tone - something softer, more supportive - can change how the moment feels. You don’t have to do all of these. You don’t have to do them perfectly. Just pick one and see what happens. 💜 Which one feels easiest to try today? Or is there something small that’s been helping you lately? ---------------------- I share a lot of this kind of simple, real-life nervous system support in my free community if you’re looking for more: The Window Within: Nervous System Regulation for a Balanced Life You’re welcome to join us.

Why Regulation Feels Hard (But Actually Isn’t)
A lot of people are told: “Just take a breath.” “Just calm down.” But if you’ve ever tried that when you’re overwhelmed, you already know it doesn’t always work. And it’s not because you’re doing it wrong, it’s because your body’s state matters. Very simply, most of us move through different states throughout the day: 🔥 Overwhelmed / on edge: anxious, tense, everything feels like a lot 💚 Steady / okay: more present, able to think and respond 🧊 Shut down / low energy: tired, heavy, checked out But here’s the part that changes everything: What helps in one state can make another state feel worse. If you’re overwhelmed and someone tells you to “just calm down”, it can feel frustrating or impossible. Because your body may actually need to release some of that built-up energy first before it can settle. And if you’re in a low, shut-down state, slowing down even more usually isn’t what helps either. You might need to gently bring your energy back up instead. So it’s not that regulation is hard, it’s that it’s more nuanced than we’ve been taught. Once you start matching what you do to what your body actually needs in the moment, things begin to make a lot more sense. This and other real-life ways to understand what your body is doing and what actually helps is what the conversation is centered around in my free community, The Window Within. Please Introduce Yourself
One of the most important things I've learned since becoming an online entrepreneur is that the most important thing you can do to grow your business is to build relationships. Many of us (myself included) have rushed to promote our groups and services that we care so deeply about. And it only makes sense - we are excited about what we are doing! Today, I'd like to invite you to take a step back and introduce yourself to the group by answering the following questions: 1. Who are you personally? 2. Who are you professionally? 3. What is something you love doing outside of work? 4. What is something surprising about you? As you open up and make more connections, you will find that not only are people more interested in what you do, but they will also be more interested in helping you make connections with other people they know! 😉 After you introduce yourself, please scroll through the other introductions and add a comment to someone you have something in common with or would like to know more about. 😊 Please add your introduction in the comments below! ⬇️

This Month We’re Learning a New Language (Your Body’s)
Have you ever felt like your body is trying to tell you something, but you can’t quite hear it clearly? That’s actually the focus of our month inside The Window Within - learning the language of the body without forcing answers or decisions. We’re talking about things like: – soft yeses – quiet nos – mixed signals – and why “I don’t know” is often a nervous system response, not a failure 👇 Curious where you land (let us know in the poll below) If this resonates, you’re welcome to come hang out with us this month. 🌱
