Hey Skoolers,
This may help some of you that got the message today that you won't have to keep the ChatGPT Plus and Teamwork Space accounts - for me would have been $85/month. I was willing to pay for that because of the benefits of Teams (which I call Enterprise lite).
Now, you can migrate your Plus into your Teams account pretty seamlessly. I did it and it was pretty smooth. I was nervous at first. When I see words like irreversible and lose it makes me hesitate - for sure. But all is well. see my directions below.
Keep in mind:
Please note that merging workspaces is irreversible. You will lose access to your data if you are removed from the Team or if the workspace is deactivated.
To proceed with merging workspaces, please visit the “Settings” section in your ChatGPT Team workspace, navigate to “Data Controls,” and select “Merge data from your personal workspace.” Migrating your personal workspace will transfer your chat history and GPTs, but will delete other information such as Custom Instructions and Plugins. After merging, your Plus subscription will be canceled and refunded, and your personal workspace will be deleted. Members you invite to your Team workspace can also choose to merge their personal ChatGPT workspace data into their Team workspace.
Here's what I did:
- Went into GPT Plus and copied my custom instructions. Copy to note pad or empty email.
- Went to export in Data Magaement and exported my chats. Download your chats. You should be doing this weekly as best practice.
- Switched over to Teams and went in "settings" and then Data Controls and clicked Merge. You will get another warning.
- I'm a heavy user so it took about 5 minutes or less for everything to show up.
Remember, a teams account gives you high usage limits and you get sat in the corner way less. And, your client data or sensitive information is NOT supposed to be trained on the GPT models as it works like Enterprise. However, they all say that. :-)
Hope this helps someone on the fence in making the transition.
