Many first-time acquirers panic in this moment.
But the structure is simple.
When I get on a call with a business owner I do three things first:
1️⃣ Thank them for responding
2️⃣ Explain I’m an investor looking to acquire businesses in their industry
3️⃣ Ask directly if they are exploring an exit
Then I ask them to tell me the background of the business.
The goal of the first call isn’t to pitch.
It’s to start understanding the opportunity.
