SOTD – Roja Elysium

Gave Elysium a full wearing today. I expected something loud, but I actually had to double up on the sprays just to get a feel for it. Even then it sits pretty soft on my skin.

The opening surprised me. I’m not getting the big citrus blast the note list suggests. Instead, the first thing my nose picked up was this pencil shavings vibe. After looking into it, that tracks. The cedar and some of the woody aromachemicals in Elysium can give off that dry, papery wood smell, especially if the citrus burns off quickly.

What’s interesting is that the scent bubble around me smells completely different. In the air I get that clean “blue fragrance” type freshness you usually find in modern freshies, even though it never goes full shower gel. It just has that light, airy, clean aura around me. But when I put my nose right up to the skin, the pencil shaving cedar note comes through clearly.

So far this one is much softer and lighter than I expected, with a mix of clean freshness in the air and dry woody aromatic notes up close.

Anyone else ever get that pencil shaving effect from this one?
