SOTD: Mughal Fort by Lattafa 18/12/2025
Here is one from Lattafa's Niche Emerati line. Mughal Fort is a warm, spicy, and sweet gourmand fragrance. It is said to be a high-quality clone of Penhaligon’s Changing Constance, but I have not had my nose on anything from this house as of yet. It has a beautiful salted caramel and cardamom profile that smells significantly more expensive than its price tag. It is a comforting, "fluffy" scent perfect for cooler weather.
It opens with a blast of aromatic warmth. The cardamom is prominently dry, slightly chai-like, and spicy, blended with a solid kick of pimento. It is not a citrusy fresh opening; it is immediately cozy. At the heart, which is clearly the star of the show. The spices settle, and a delicious, buttery caramel note emerges. It is distinctively "salted" rather than sugary syrup, likely due to the interaction with the cedarwood, which keeps the scent grounded and unisex. 1The scent finishes with a soft, powdery vanilla and musk. It leaves a creamy trail on the skin that feels very luxurious and smooth.
For a fragrance with a sweet profile, Mughal Fort performs surprisingly well, though it is not a room filler. It lasts a full work day on skin and stays on clothes for days and creates a nice scent bubble for the first 2–3 hours before settling closer to the skin. It is an "inviting" scent rather than a "shouting" one. The warmth of the cardamom and amber makes it ideal for cold days, cozy evenings, or dates.
